Read the thread with clearer signal

ThreadSense helps you browse Facebook with less noise, less toxicity, and more control. It analyzes comments you already see on Facebook desktop and surfaces local risk cues—like rude tone, troll patterns, scam bait, and fake-account heuristics—while keeping everything on your device.

Built for noisy threads, not for drama.

ThreadSense is a reading aid for people who want calmer, more deliberate Facebook browsing. It helps you notice risky conversation patterns, reduce toxic noise, and decide what deserves your attention—without forcing you to unfriend people or escalate every interaction.

Silence comments without unfriending

You do not need to cut people off just to make Facebook usable again. ThreadSense lets you dim, collapse, ignore, or snooze risky comments locally, so you can quiet distracting or toxic voices without changing your actual Facebook relationships.

Less noise, more peace of mind

Instead of absorbing every hostile, baiting, or suspicious comment, ThreadSense gives you an easier way to filter the emotional clutter. The result is a feed that feels calmer, more manageable, and less mentally draining.

See why a comment was flagged

Click any badge to open reasons, matched phrases, and profile context. You do not just get a warning—you get explainable cues that help you inspect before reacting.

Designed for caution, privacy, and user control.

ThreadSense was built as a privacy-first Chrome extension for Facebook desktop users who want better signal without surveillance or overclaiming. Its goal is not to label people with certainty, but to help users inspect patterns more carefully and make their own decisions.

The product works locally on your device, does not upload your feed by default, does not auto-report or auto-block people, and never presents heuristic cues as proof of identity. That matters because a tool like this is most credible when it helps users think more clearly instead of pretending to replace their judgment.

  • 100% local analysis by default
  • No analytics, ads, or remote logging
  • Optional OCR runs on-device only
  • Facebook content is never removed by the extension

“ThreadSense helps me avoid getting pulled into every toxic thread. I can quiet noisy comments, see why something was flagged, and keep scrolling without turning Facebook into a fight.”

Three steps. No account. No upload.

ThreadSense is simple to use: install it once, browse Facebook desktop normally, and let it annotate the comments you already see. When something looks risky, you can inspect it, tune settings, or soften its visibility locally.

1. Install & enable

Add ThreadSense from the Chrome Web Store and open Facebook in a normal desktop tab. No separate account setup is required.

2. Scroll your feed

As comments appear, ThreadSense scores visible text and optional public profile cues. It adds badges next to comments and some posts so you can scan the thread faster.

3. Investigate & tune

Click a badge to open more detail, then dim, collapse, ignore, or snooze comments as needed. Adjust sensitivity and custom phrases in Settings to match your own tolerance for noise.

Four lenses on risky conversation.

ThreadSense does not reduce everything to one generic score. Instead, it gives you separate heuristic signals so you can tell whether something looks rude, baiting, repetitive, suspicious, or simply worth a second look.

Rude tone

Highlights insults, shouting, condescension, and heated language based on phrase lists and text signals.

Troll pattern

Surfaces repetition, multi-target hostility, copy-paste replies, and drive-by engagement patterns.

Scam / bait

Flags promotional scams, debate bait, and bait-style wording bundles that often clutter Facebook threads.

Fake-account risk

Uses behavior cues such as link spam, thin profiles, default avatars, and burst activity—without claiming identity certainty.

When ThreadSense fires, you get practical outputs: visible badges, explainable popovers, and tools to reduce unwanted noise locally. That means less emotional clutter, more context, and more control over how you experience Facebook.

Your feed never leaves your browser.

ThreadSense is designed for people who want a calmer Facebook experience without trading away privacy. There are no analytics, no ads, no remote logging, no selling or profiling of comment text, and no cloud processing by default.

  • No analytics, ads, or remote logging
  • No selling or profiling of comment text
  • Optional OCR runs locally via Tesseract workers
  • Bug reports stay on-device until you choose to share them

Common questions

Do I have to unfriend someone to make ThreadSense useful?
No. You can dim, collapse, ignore, or snooze comments locally without changing your Facebook friendships. ThreadSense is built to quiet noise on your screen—not to force relationship decisions.
Does ThreadSense report or block people for me?
No. It only changes how comments look on your screen (badges, dim, collapse) and never contacts Facebook or other users on your behalf.
Can it prove someone is fake or trolling?
No. Scores are pattern-based guesses and can be wrong—especially with sarcasm, quotes, or jokes. Use them as one input among many.
What data leaves my computer?
By default, none of your feed content is sent to ThreadSense servers. Optional phrase-list updates fetch only public word lists. See the privacy policy for OCR and future license checks.
Does it work on mobile Facebook?
ThreadSense targets Facebook on desktop Chrome. Mobile browsers do not support this extension model.
Is ThreadSense affiliated with Meta?
No. ThreadSense is an independent project and is not endorsed by Meta Platforms, Inc.
