1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how ThreadSense for Facebook (the “Extension”) handles information when you use it in Google Chrome.

2. What data the Extension can access

When enabled, the Extension can read and analyze content on pages you visit on facebook.com, including posts, comments, and related page elements. This access is necessary for the Extension to detect and highlight potential troll-like behavior in your feed.

3. What data is collected, stored, or transmitted

The Extension does not collect or store personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or Facebook login credentials.

The Extension does not send page content, scores, user IDs, URLs, or any other browsing data to any external servers controlled by the developer or by third parties. All analysis happens locally in your browser.

The Extension does not use external analytics, tracking scripts, or remote logging. No data is stored outside your own browser profile.

Offscreen document usage (OCR): ThreadSense uses Chrome’s offscreen document API only to run optional on-device OCR for image comments. OCR is processed locally in the extension using Tesseract WebAssembly workers so the feature can run without a visible tab or popup. Image data is fetched from the current Facebook page context and converted to text on-device. ThreadSense does not transmit image contents, extracted text, comment text, profile data, or scores to ThreadSense servers or third parties.

4. How data is used

Any information the Extension can access from facebook.com is used solely to compute and display troll-detection signals (such as local scores, labels, or visual highlights) in your browser while you browse Facebook. This information is not repurposed for advertising, profiling, or sold for any commercial purpose.

5. Data sharing

The Extension does not share any user data with third parties. No information accessed or generated by the Extension is sold, rented, or otherwise disclosed to advertisers, analytics providers, or other external parties.

6. Security

Because the Extension does not transmit user data to the developer’s servers, there is no server-side storage of your information. Your data remains within your local browser environment. You are responsible for securing access to your device and browser profile.

7. Children’s privacy

The Extension is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect or store information about children.

8. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When updated, a revised version will be published at this URL, and the “Last updated” date will be changed. Continued use of the Extension after any update indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
